Morgan+Trent Wedding Guestbook
I had the pleasure of creating a wedding guestbook for my sweet friend Morgan and her intended, Trent.
Morgan is an abstract oil painter in Nashville, and Trent is a videographer and photographer. Morgan and Trent also collaborate together on Trent's photography shoots and make an incredibly dreamy team. Creativity is an intregal part of their coupleship, so I knew this guestbook needed to reflect their thoughtfully simplistic style.
I've been holding onto this copy of "1001 Gems of English Poetry" from 1896 for a very special occasion. Morgan and Trent's wedding colors were a muted palette of different grays with the only color being introduced through greenery, and their wedding venue was Riverside Mansion in Nashville which is beautifully vintage era home venue. I chose this cover because I loved the beauty of the muted greenery on the cover and the vintage style of the gold work that mimicked the aesthetic of their venue choice.
I continued the vintage floral aesthetic with my inner cover paper choice; this is a personal favorite paper of mine because it's so delicately intricate.
We agreed to keep the paper blank so that wedding guests could feel the freedom to simply sign their name while having the freedom to write longer well wishes or blessings. I used a medium weighted eggshell acid-free card stock.
I bound this guestbook together with a coptic stitch using Irish linen thread for durability and to allow the book to lay open flat. I featured the same paper in the siding that I used on the inner cover.
I was actually invited to their wedding, so I got to see this guestbook in action and I was very pleased with seeing it "in the wild." I've got a few other custom orders and guestbooks to share in the upcoming weeks!
Also, I am very pleased to announce that I am taking a trip to NYC at the end of the month to get supplies (such as leather!) for future projects and visit The Books Arts Center! I can barely wait! If you know of any bookish things (or otherwise unmissable sights!) to do in the Big Apple, make sure you drop a line in the comments and let me know!
Until next time,
Abigail
